Moss Landscaping Captures Coveted TNLA Grand Platinum Award
Texas Nursery & Landscaping Association award salutes
the best of the best
Houston, TX March 6, 2008 Moss Landscaping was in
the spotlight during the recent Texas Nursery & Landscape
Association (TNLA) Texas Excellence in Landscaping Awards ceremony
and dinner when they walked away with the highly sought after
Grand Platinum Award. The Grand Platinum Award is a special judges
award given only to a project that is deemed best in all categories.
The company also was honored with 1 Gold and 3 Silver Awards.
The Texas Excellence in Landscaping Awards program recognizes
excellence in installation, design, deign/build, maintenance,
and special projects. The entries were judged on the basis of
difficulty, craftsmanship and relative contribution to the quality
of the environment, in addition to specific criteria in each category.
We are thrilled to have won the Grand Platinum Award,
noted Gary Moss, president and founder. It means that there
were none better! We have an exceptionally dedicated and talented
team who are masters at their craft, and its because of
them that we were able to win this award. Our goal is to be innovative,
yet always provide our customers with excellence and quality customer
service, and I think we do it.
The project, deemed best in all categories, was the Holthouse
Estate in the Residential Maintenance category, which Moss Landscaping
has maintained since 2000. This heavily wooded 6-acre private
estate with nearly total shade coverage presents a challenge for
seasonal color. Falling leaves must be managed, and a proximity
to a ravine and lake requires maintaining a delicate balance with
nature and use of organic methods. Pathways in the area are set
on sand to avoid damaging roots of the trees and all trees are
protected by hand digging when installing any new plant material.
Among the unusual challenges of the site are dealing with the
wildlife including snakes that inhabit the area.
Moss Landscaping was also presented with the Gold Award for the
Holthouse Estate, as well as the Silver Award for the categories
of Commercial Maintenance/Stablewood Homeowners Assoc.; Special
Projects/St. Philip Presbyterian Church; and Residential Installation/Tutcher
Residence.
